Programming Team progress:
This week, we successfully programmed the motor that will be operating the arm on the bot in order to score goals in this yearâs game. Overall, itâs taken four weeks to upload successful code to the robot. However, itâs been a couple of days since weâve started working on the code for the arm. While writing the code itself has been fairly easy, it can be quite the challenge to go back through and debug any issues we run into. Regardless, we find solutions to our problems and work on the next challenge!
Mechanical Team progress:
After a difficult few weeks, we have officially completed the chassis for the robot. The chassis is the base of the robot that holds the electrical components as well as includes the drivetrain that makes it possible to drive the bot. When we first opened the box, we felt like Bob the Builder, excited to build something new. At one point in the middle of build season, we had to disassemble the robot due to it not having correct measurements, so we cut it properly and rebuilt it. It was easy to assemble the sides and the fronts while building the transmissions was a little tricky. Rebuilding it to the correct measurements was our biggest challenge. After the work was done, we felt very accomplished with completing the chassis.
