For Parents
Team 8243 meets directly after school for about an hour two to three times a week. The team is supervised by teachers and a team of volunteer mentors. All Mentors have experience with FRC Robotics and are generously sharing their time and wisdom with our team. There is no cost to students to join the team. Team gear and equipment such as tools and machinery will be provided.
As a part of the Astro Circuits team, students will have the opportunity to attend field trips to locations such as Cleveland State University and the Great Lakes Science Center. Students will also interact with FRC teams from other schools within the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.
During trips to CSU, students will learn about robots built in the past for FRC and their inner mechanisms, which they could apply to their robot. Students will learn about the scholarship programs available to them by participating in the program. They will also have the opportunity to meet with their fellow FRC participants and solve problems that they are encountering.

During trips to the Great Lakes Science Center, students work with FRC teams from other CMSD schools on robot design and game strategy. Students will also utilize tools and equipment offered by the GLSC staff including 3D printers, laser cutters, and several other power tools.
Students will also have the opportunity to attend sessions for FRC Team Members, offering up to $80 Million in scholarships. In addition, they will have the opportunity to develop new skills such as building a website and coding in Java. Students will also explore STEM careers while making new friends and memories.

If your student is interested in participating on the Astro Circuits team, they can reach out to Mr. T or Mr. Cutler on the second floor.
